Declared Missing

Prey

Five of you wake up

The Prey are capable and recognizably human. Their abilities come from professions, hobbies, mistakes and instinct, not powers.

The Operator

Maya Chen

Specialty
Remote exploration and item retrieval

She inspected unsafe tunnels, collapsed structures and industrial spaces using a compact utility robot named Rook. She disappeared after Rook transmitted footage from inside a sealed property that officially had no interior power. In a Broadcast she sends Rook into dangerous spaces and uses its claw to retrieve small objects without exposing herself.

Loose endThe final seconds of Rook's recovered footage contain The Host's symbol.

The Medic

Lena Ortiz

Specialty
Self-treatment, healing others, stabilizing rescued Prey

An emergency-room nurse known for staying calm when everyone else panicked. A nameless patient once whispered details about a Broadcast moments before dying, and Lena refused pressure to amend her report.

Loose endHer patient may have been deliberately allowed to escape.

The Hacker

Noah Park

Specialty
Terminals, password recovery, surveillance, timed shutdowns

A penetration tester for municipal systems and aging infrastructure. He kept finding the same undocumented administrator account inside prisons, motels, hospitals and power facilities owned by unrelated companies. Following the account led him straight into a Broadcast.

Loose endSomeone used Noah's credentials to access the network after he disappeared.

The Brawler

Marcus Bell

Specialty
Interrupting captures, protecting teammates, making windows

A warehouse foreman and former amateur boxer who learned that strength is most useful when it creates an opening for someone else. He was taken after intervening in an attempted abduction that police later said never happened. He can confront a Hunter briefly. Even he cannot win a straight fight.

Loose endThe person Marcus saved has no documented identity.

The Runner

Tessa Ward

Specialty
Speed, stamina, scouting, moving critical items

A night courier who knew every service road, stairwell and maintenance shortcut in her city. One delivery kept returning to her queue no matter how many times she rejected it. The address led to a vacant motel and a ringing telephone in an empty room.

Loose endHer impossible delivery was addressed in her own handwriting.

The Listener

June Bellamy

Specialty
Detecting movement, actions and voices through nearby walls

She designed acoustic treatments and traced structural noise in old buildings, and learned to tell footsteps from pipes from machinery from voices travelling through a wall. While investigating interference at a condemned prison, she heard someone say her name through a disconnected intercom.

Loose endRecordings of that intercom contain June's voice answering before she arrived.

The Trapper

Owen Pike

Specialty
Scavenging components, crafting alarms, snares and diversions

He repaired rural properties and removed dangerous animals without expensive equipment, turning discarded hardware into alarms, restraints and distractions. The Host selected him after Owen found human footprints entering one of his traps, and none leaving it.

Loose endOne of his handmade traps now hangs in The Groundsman's workshop.

The Thief

Nia Cross

Specialty
Locks, concealed storage, quiet searching, controlled spaces

She specialized in entering places whose owners were certain nobody could. During what should have been an empty-house burglary, she found walls filled with labelled possessions belonging to missing people. She got out. The stolen key in her pocket opened her own apartment from the outside.

Loose endThe Host may have hired her for earlier burglaries without ever showing his face.

The Chemist

Priya Shah

Specialty
Breaching, area denial, Hunter disruption, group recovery

She developed industrial safety compounds, emergency sealants and aerosol delivery systems, and found that her employer was buying restricted chemicals for facilities it did not publicly own. Inside a Broadcast she improvises breaching charges, disorienting gas and clotting powder from what she finds.

Loose endHer formulas appear in execution-room maintenance documents dated before she was born.
