Declared Missing

FAQ

Questions worth answering straight

Including the ones where the honest answer is not yet.

What is Declared Missing?

A third-person asymmetric multiplayer horror game. Three Hunters pursue five Prey through a prison controlled by The Host. Five escape routes exist and only three of them work on any given night.

How many players are in a match?

Eight. Three Hunters against five Prey. A match is called a Broadcast.

Is it out yet?

No. Declared Missing is in development at 8 Bit Cache. There is a playable internal build, and no release date has been announced.

What platforms will it be on?

Not announced yet. It is built in Unreal Engine 5.

How much will it cost?

Not announced.

Can I play it right now, or wishlist it?

Not yet. There is no public build and no store page. This site is where the first announcement will go.

Is there a single-player mode?

Declared Missing is a multiplayer game. Nothing else has been announced.

Can Prey fight back?

Briefly. Prey can stun, interrupt, distract and buy distance, but no Prey wins a sustained head-on fight and a group cannot surround a Hunter and keep them down.

What happens when I get caught?

You are carried to a cell, and you stay rescuable. Capture is not death. A Hunter has to complete a three-step execution preparation before anyone can be permanently eliminated, and there is a real window to interrupt it.

Does the map change every match?

The building does not. The prison's geography is fixed and learnable. What changes is which doors are locked, which sectors have power, where supplies are, which crawl routes are open, and which three escapes work.

Is there a character I have to play?

No. Specialties create options rather than requirements, and no escape route depends on a specific character being in the match.

Who is making it?

8 Bit Cache, an independent studio.
